Find themes in anonymized survey comments
Groups open-ended answers into themes so you can see patterns quickly.
Take care first — Strip names, places and any identifying details first; comments can reveal who wrote them.
Please note: This site is only a guide to help people understand. Consult your IT, security and/or privacy department for clarification.

Starter prompt
Below are anonymous survey comments from our [PROGRAM NAME] participants. Group them into 4 to 6 themes, give each theme a short name, a count of roughly how many comments fit, and two short representative quotes. Note any comments that don't fit a theme. Count and quote only what is in the comments; if a theme has too few comments to count, say so instead of guessing. [PASTE ANONYMIZED COMMENTS HERE]
Paste the prompt into your AI tool first, then replace the placeholders with your own details. Don't use real names of clients or donors.

Check the result
Read the original comments yourself to confirm the themes are fair, and check that no quote could identify a person.
What it might get wrong
Counts that are inflated or only approximate. Quotes reworded or merged from several comments. Themes that reflect what you expected more than what people wrote.
