Write a tabling script for community outreach

Gives volunteers friendly words to start conversations at an info table.

Lower risk: public info only — Keep to your public message; no personal information about clients.

Please note: This site is only a guide to help people understand. Consult your IT, security and/or privacy department for clarification.

Before you start, gather

Take [MISSION] from your approved boilerplate or annual report. Decide [ACTION], such as signing up for updates, that a volunteer can truly offer at a table. Afterward, practice with volunteers.

Starter prompt

Write a tabling script for volunteers at a community event for [ORGANIZATION NAME]. Include a friendly opener, a 20-second description of our work ([MISSION]), three questions to start conversation, how to invite people to [ACTION], and how to politely end a conversation. Add tips for body language and what to do if someone needs help we can't give. Do not invent statistics, services or program results; write ADD FACT instead of guessing.

Paste the prompt into your AI tool first, then replace the placeholders with your own details. Don't use real names of clients or donors.

Open an AI tool

You are leaving this guide. Copy the prompt first, then open a tool. The link goes to the website of the company named on each link, in a new tab. That company's terms and privacy policy apply there. Paste the prompt in, then replace the placeholders with your own details. Don't enter real names or confidential details.

Check the result

Practice it with volunteers and adjust any lines that feel unnatural.

What it might get wrong

A statistic or service claim a volunteer cannot support at the table. A promise of help nobody on site can give. An invitation that collects personal details with no process behind it.
